A fresh romance


Silk Tree was born when founders Andrew and Tracy realised their love affair with gin and tonic had run its course. They joined an ever-expanding social movement of like-minded people who wanted to take a break from drink to lead a more active and healthy lifestyle. 

However, finding a worthy alternative that would fit in with the many routines alcohol is ingrained in – socialising, unwinding, cooking, travel, business events – was not easy.

They knew what they didn’t want, but they also knew what they did want. It needed to be a full-bodied alternative that could arouse the same degree of satisfaction in all circumstances.

It was obvious; a fizzy drink was never going to do.

Let the games begin

This was the seed from which Silk Tree grew. Andrew and Tracy began investigating how gin was made and attempted to mimic this process, but without the alcohol.

They replaced wine o’clock with kitchen experiment distilling different flavours, spices, and herbs. Their friends at the Knockvicar Organic Garden shared invaluable insights on the provenance of certain herbs and berries and how they blend together.

This was a period for trialing and testing different formulas, until they came up with a taste they thought was so good that they should bottle and sell it.  


Undeniable chemistry

Silk Tree grew from homemade alchemy to a veritable game changer in the drinks industry. Andrew and Tracy are excited to be part of the emerging societal shift towards health and wellness, and filling a much needed void in an alcohol-centric culture.
